CTS Deploys Enerpac Synchronised Lifting For Electric Motors Installations

Italian heavy lift company, CTS S.p.A., has successfully used Enerpac heavy lifting systems to install several 100-tonne electric motors at a power station in Romania. Using an Enerpac SL400 hydraulic gantry for offloading and Enerpac SCJ-50 self-locking cube jacks for positioning, the engineering team achieved a seamless transfer of the large electric motors from arrival at the site to final seating.

Precision from Truck to Foundation

3.5m high and 3.1m wide, the electric motors were transported to the construction site by truck. On arrival, an Enerpac SL400 hydraulic gantry was used to lift the motor and safely transition it onto Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT). Once the SPMT had navigated the motor to its designated location within the facility, space limitations required a solution that offered both high lifting capacity and a compact footprint.


Four Enerpac SCJ50 cube jacks connected to a split flow pump were used to synchronously lift the motor allowing the SPMT to be removed and the motor lowered onto steel stands awaiting final positioning with the cube jack. “The Enerpac cube jack significantly reduced the motor installation timeline compared to traditional jacking methods,” said Milan Jovanovic, Production Manager, CTS S.p.A. “By combining the SL400 hydraulic gantry and SCJ50 cube jack technologies, we had the high-capacity lifting solutions needed to provide both safety and operational efficiency during the project.”


Synchronised Lifting

The Enerpac SL400 hydraulic gantry and Enerpac SCJ50 cube jack provide synchronised lifting of heavy loads. The SL400 features an Intelli-Lift wireless control system, allowing for unobstructed views of the load, and automatic synchronisation of lifting and travel.

The Enerpac SCJ-50 Cube Jack can lift up to 50 tonne to a height of 2m.

It uses a base lifting frame and self-aligning, lightweight steel cribbing blocks to provide high-capacity and stabilised lifting.
